With many parents and carers feeling abandoned by limited support for their family and themselves, it is important to be fully aware of yours and your loved ones rights. Likewise, with so many great organisations and good people out there, it is important to know what is available to support you and your family.
These sessions are therefore designed with the goal of harnessing the experiences and knowledge of autistics and parents.. Using trained facilitators, we can direct rich conversations where everyone contributes and learns together. And to deepen these discussions, we also invite guest speakers and professionals – including therapists, educators, and neurodivergent advocates – who bring valuable perspectives and expertise. Their role is to add to the conversation, not dominate it, ensuring that every session is grounded in both lived and professional experience.
The best way to keep abreast and book any upcoming events is through our social media channels. However, if you have any questions about getting involved, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Collaborative learning sessions for those with lived or professional experience
At Viva Kai, we’ve developed an Autism-Friendly Accreditation system to help businesses in the hospitality, leisure, and tourism industries become genuinely inclusive of autistic people and their families. Our tiered training programme—offered both online and in person—guides staff and management through practical adjustments, legal responsibilities, and real-world challenges faced by the autistic community. Using clear, evidence-informed tools and direct feedback from autistic individuals and families, we help businesses build confidence and competence in creating welcoming spaces for all. Accreditation is more than a badge—it’s a commitment to understanding, dignity, and meaningful accessibility.
This work is deeply personal. As both an autistic adult who has learned to navigate the world independently, and a parent to a young son who may always need high levels of support, I’ve learned some of the many varying needs across the spectrum—and experienced firsthand how inaccessible many places still are. Whether it’s the anxiety of calling ahead to ask about accommodations, or the heartbreak of being met with intolerance when my son stims in public, these experiences drive our mission. Through our training and support, accredited businesses will be equipped to respond with empathy, flexibility, and clarity—including the option to use a personalised Accessibility Profile system that helps meet individual needs without guesswork. At Viva Kai, we’re not just raising awareness—we’re changing the experience.
